Pop culture, and particularly in the superhero, sci-fi and fantasy realms, has always been at the crux of my life. These stories are entertainment, but they reverberate far beyond that space into politics and society. While I’m a data scientist by day, I could never shake the bug of needing to write my pop culture opinions. Much of my work focuses on the importance of representation in pop media, with a particular focus on severely underrepresented Southwest Asian and North African (SWANA) and Muslim people, environmental and climate stories, and how media on a widespread scale can influence systemic change.
